NOVEMBER WORKSHOPS

• MONDAYS: 10am – 1pm November 3rd,10th,17th, 24th
Topic: INDIRECT OIL PAINTING TECHNIQUE
Tutor: JOHN MORRIS
Cost: $200. Some Material required

With over 20 years’ experience as a tutor at Newcastle Art School, John Morris has a wealth of knowledge to impart as he guides students to develop their own aesthetic and learn the fundamentals of painting with oils.

During this series of workshops, participants will be shown how to extract a composition from the landscape and after refining it through drawing, translate it into a painting.

Using coloured grounds and local colour underpainting followed by layers of indirect painting, the works will develop over the 4 week workshops.
Basic oil painting techniques and colour mixing will also be covered.

This workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as more advanced painters.

Topic: COLOUR
Tutor: LEZLIE TILLEY
Cost: $200. Some material required

Nationally acclaimed and award winning artist and teacher Lezlie Tilley is offering colour workshops that encompass learning the fundamentals of colour perception and bringing that knowledge into self-directed studies that will help students get comfortable with colour principles translating them into their own studio practice.

This workshop is designed for beginners as well as those who may have a basic knowledge of colour theories and concepts wanting revision of familiar and new colour constructs.

Think outside the box and find new ways to express your creativity and ideas.
This workshop will explore using unconventional materials and techniques.

Class numbers are limited to 10 participants. Booking and pre-payment is essential.

Creative Kids exhibition. September 2014

The children from Floraville Public School After- School Art Class spent all of term 3 working on artworks for an exhibition at Finite Gallery. The children range in age from 5 – 11 years, and all attend art class one day a week. I’m sure you’ll be seeing some more of their art in the future.

From ‘servo’ to gallery

Finite Gallery opened it’s doors on 20th April 2013.

The building had formerly been a service station, and had been used as a storage area/ workshop since 2006 when the last petrol was pumped.

The transformation into a gallery required a lot of work, mostly cleaning and painting. I thank those that helped with this task (my wonderful family and friends). Without your help the gallery doors would not have opened when they did.

Finite Gallery is located close to beautiful Caves Beach, on the mid-coast of NSW, approximately 30km south of Newcastle.Broad beaches with caves and a fossil forest to explore are just some of the local natural features.In a former service station, the gallery has level access and plenty of parking.The gallery displays fine arts and crafts from local emerging and established artist’s, as well as conducting art workshops for both adults and children.Opening hours are Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays from 10am – 4pm, or by appointment. One and two day, mid-week, workshops allow participants the opportunity to enjoy a break away from home, meet others who share their interest, and learn new skills and techniques from experienced tutors. Accommodation is available at Caves Beachside Hotel and Resort which is adjacent to the gallery.
